Who We Are

We are Presbyterian, from the Greek term meaning “elder,” which means we are governed by the Pastor and a group of Elders chosen from the congregation. Among the many branches of Christianity, we follow Reformed theology which teaches that God has all authority, that persons can pray directly to Him, and that we are granted eternal life with Him through Jesus Christ. We stress the importance and authority of the Bible in our preaching and ministry.

Our mission statement can be summed up in one word: REACH.

Reaching Up | Loving God:
Vertical reach to touch God. We reach up through worship.

Reach In | Serving Each Other:
Horizontal reach to bless others. We serve God by serving each other.

Reach Out | Changing The World:
Outward reach to can change the world. We have to be bold and courageous. Jesus commanded us to go into the entire world and present the good news.

A place where a person with no church background can come and feel comfortable and enjoy the service because the atmosphere will be friendly. The sermons are always practical, biblical and relevant.

A church that is fun for the entire family, a church where kids want to go because they have a great time experiencing God’s love. A church that builds families.

“These dreams are being fulfilled because they are inspired by God!”

A church that helps every member find their ministry and lets them use their gifts and abilities to meet other’s needs. We believe the church is at her best when the doors are open to all who have an interest in learning about the Christian faith. Wherever you are on your journey, regardless of where you fall on the deep questions of faith, our community is open to you.

Stow Presbyterian Church

Our church was founded in 1960 as a “daughter” of United Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls. We are blessed to still have some of our charter members worshiping with us. The first meetings of our congregation were held in the gym of Woodland Elementary School. The original sanctuary was completed in 1962 and doubled as a fellowship hall.

Over the years we have developed many different worship styles, faith education programs, mission fields, and church life activities to help people connect more deeply to Jesus Christ, our Savior, and to come to accept His forgiveness and salvation. In all of this, our focus is the Bible and our faith in God Almighty.

A fellowship wing was added to the building in the 1990s. Our new worship center wing was completed in 2008. The design of our new building very closely matches the master design for the building crafted by our founders, and we are pleased to have been able to bring their vision to fruition.

After several years of prayerful discussion, the congregation voted to disaffiliate with the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2006. We operated as an independent Presbyterian church, until recently when we aligned ourselves with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). On September 22, 2018, we were officially received by the Presbytery of the Alleghenies (EPC) at their meeting in Pennsylvania.

Reverend Robert Stanley grew up in western Pennsylvania, graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Thought, Christian Ministry and Christian Philosophy and Trinity School for Ministry with a Master of Divinity. He has served in PC(USA), PCA and EPC churches since 1995. He was ordained in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 2010. He came to Stow Presbyterian Church in 2013 as an Associate Pastor for discipleship ministries, concentrating on youth and young adults. He began serving as Senior Pastor in 2015.
